Grayling, Michigan

Grayling Generating Station is a 37 MW biomass-fired facility located near Grayling, Michigan that commenced commercial operation in June 1992. Atlantic Power acquired a 30% interest in Grayling from AltaGas Power Holdings (U.S.) Inc. in August 2019. The remaining equity interests are held by Fortistar (20%) and CMS Energy (50%).

All of the output of the Project is sold to Consumers Energy (the utility subsidiary of CMS Energy) under a 35-year PPA that expires on December 31, 2027. The plant burns wood waste from local mills, forestry residues, mill waste and bark. The plant can mix tire-derived fuel waste (shredded tires) with biomass waste as a source of fuel.

The plant is operated by an affiliate of CMS Energy. There is no project-level debt.
